Services are provided in a manner that is consumer driven and recovery oriented and predicated on “Medical Necessity.” We believe that when an individual has a mental health or substance use disorder requiring professional evaluation and treatment, he/she should be treated in the least intensive setting necessary to meet the individual’s medical needs. Below are the principles of treatment we live by:
- Client-centered - Services are planned to meet the individual needs of the persons served as opposed to fitting them into an existing service. Services will be developmentally appropriate and specific, and build on the strengths of the client to meet his/her treatment, social, and physical needs.
- Multi-system – When possible, services are planned in collaboration with all the other providers in the client's life. Representatives from each of these systems, as well as the family (when possible), should assist in developing the necessary resources to implement the treatment plan, thus providing appropriate support to the client.
- Culturally competent - Culture determines our worldview and provides a general design for living and patterns for interpreting reality that is reflected in our behavior. Therefore, services that are culturally competent are provided by individuals who have the skills to recognize and respect the behavior, ideas, attitudes, values, beliefs, customs, language, rituals, ceremonies, and characteristics of a particular group of people.
- Least restrictive/least intrusive - Services will be provided in the least restrictive settings that are the most appropriate for the client, yet best able to meet the client’s needs.
- Built on Evidenced Based Practices - Services are prescribed and delivered based on current Evidenced Based Practices/Curricula. Clinicians receive ongoing competency based training in these practices.
